While Colm McCarthy's view in the Sunday Independant yesterday 19th February http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/colm-mccarthy-forgiveness-is-a-virtue-not-needed-by-many-3024305.html) would appear to be anti- reform of the rules on insolvency, in fact what he is saying reflects that we need a formal structure to deal with the issue of personal debt in Ireland.

As with much of the opinion on this area, the devil of what the reform looks like will be in the detail, and I believe that it makes sense to open up the debate on this point.
